Age guide: 7 to 9
Ready. Set. Action.
Channel your child’s creative imagination using digital media tools. Your child will begin by bringing together all their creative ideas onto an animation storyboard that has a start, middle and an end. Using this storyboard, creating their screenplay script will be a breeze. Next, your child will learn how to record, edit and apply special effects for both video and audio - skills that enable your child to transform their storyboard into a stop motion animation masterpiece – ready to share with family and friends.
Intermediate to Advanced Skills
Choose the camp option that’s right for you
Chromebooks and iPads are not supported
Important - Software Installation
Minimum system requirements
Laptops cannot be rented upon arrival at the camp.
If you prefer, you can rent a laptop from FunTech with all the software pre-installed for £70 per week. This will be an optional extra during the booking process.
Stop Motion Animation combines transferable skills such as collaborative planning, storyboarding and scripting with a fun and interesting environment to make an experience your child will be raving about the whole summer.
After an introduction to stop motion animation, set building, and the software they’ll use, they’ll be ready for their first animation. Throughout the course they’ll focus on the more intricate side of filming and production. Finally, they’ll produce a final project featuring overlays, chroma keying, audio and more! Hope they’re ready to stretch those creative muscles.
Tutors will be guiding them every step of the way to help make sure their ideas become reality.
Don’t miss the final showcase on Friday at 4PM, when FunTech will have the pleasure of hosting the world premiere of all the films that the class has made! Parents and guardians have an exclusive invitation to this prestigious event.

We use the environment to teach advanced electronics that the children are able to contextualise. By the end of the week all youngsters are creating advanced electronic circuits using a range of gates. They’ll start by exploring key gameplay aspects of Minecraft, from crafting and farming to combat, then jump straight into Redstone current. Next the children will start mastering Redstone, creating a host of complex machines including a lift, an automated Minecraft station and finally command blocks for ultimate power. On the last day we’ll have a master class in aesthetics, ensuring the buildings and contraptions look their best. Finally we’ll split into small groups to build teamwork and put all the skills into practice by creating an obstacle course maze.", "legacy_excerpt" => "

Learning Objectives

Electrical Circuits (via Redstone)

Circuit Diagrams

Logic Gates (AND, OR, NOT, and the various combinations)

Clock, Pulse and Memory Circuits

Skills & STEM Development

Critical & Logical Thinking

Creativity

Spatial Reasoning

Experimentation

Minecraft is a lot more than chopping down trees and fending of monsters. There is a element of Minecraft that lets players open doors with a lever, explode a block when someone trips over a wire and much more. It’s called Redstone, a simple analogy for electricity and electrical circuits. Redstone can be used to form wires that signals can be sent down, devices can then be used to alter the signal as it travels down a circuit.

The week starts off with an introduction to Redstone itself. Students will learn about Redstone Dust, how adjacent pieces can connect together to form a wire, and how something can generate a ‘current’ along that wire. These generators include buttons, levers, light sensors and more. They’ll run through exercises of generating current along a wire using different generators and making the current do different things, for example, closing doors and shooting eggs!

We then take what has been learnt and look at the realistic side of things by looking at circuit diagrams and how they can be used to create ‘circuits’ in a Minecraft world. Logic gates will also be introduced, showing ways of combining and reversing multiple currents to create a logical circuit, for example, opening a door only when two buttons are pushed. These logic gates are entirely analogous to their counterparts in modern electrical circuits, so everything taught is applicable to creating electrical circuits as well!

Finally, students will examine ways of using these logic gates to create different ‘types’ of circuits: ones for creating a constant pulse of current, ones for remembering the state of a current and more. Students will put these circuits to practical use by creating large projects, such as assault courses and half-adders!
", "legacy_body" => "
DAY 1

Students will be introduced to the world of Minecraft and Redstone! To start off, they will run through the basic controls of Minecraft for anyone new to it, and then they move on to Redstone. This involves looking at what Redstone is, how it connects together, Redstone currents, and things which generate this current!

DAY 2

This day is focused on logic and logic gates! Being a fundamental part of machinery, logic gates are really important. Using Redstone, the students will create the two universal gates, NAND and NOR, as well as some other gates, like AND, OR, and XOR.

DAY 3

This day is focused on introducing two components of a Redstone circuit: Repeaters and Comparators. The students will look at what these two things can do, as well as look at how to use them in complex circuits. To finish off, students will create some basic memory circuits, like an RS Latch and a T Flip-Flop.

DAY 4

On this day students will use everything they’ve learnt over the past three days to create more complex circuits! They will create clock and pulse circuits, as well as look at the different ways of how to get a Redstone current safely from one location to another.

DAY 5

On this final day, students will look at some interesting extras to Minecraft, such as commands and the Command Block! To finish off, students will put everything they’ve learnt to the test in creating an obstacle course maze!
", "age_group_id" => "3", "min_age" => "9", "max_age" => "12", "age" => "9-12", "duration" => "5 Days, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm", "pre_requisite" => "None", "invitation" => "'Redstone Result' - Fri: 4:00pm", "new" => "0", "onboarder" => "1", "fee" => "695", "residential_fee" => "1595", "us_fee" => "795", "us_residential_fee" => "1895", "eu_fee" => "795", "eu_residential_fee" => "1895", "order" => "3", "dirname" => "", "basename" => "", "youtube_embed_code" => "", "hardware_requirements" => "", "software_testing" => "", "sales_overview" => "
CAMP: MINECRAFT REDSTONE | AGE: 10-13 | FEE: £545 | £1295

KEY WORDS: ELECTRONICS | AND GATES | OR GATES | NOT GATES | CIRCUIT FOR COMPUTERS CPU | COMBINE GATES TO FORM DIFFERENT CIRCUITS |

APPLICATIONS: ELEVATORS | CALCUATORS | STICKY PISTONS | T FLIP-FLOPS | DIODES | PULSE CIRCUITS | CIRCUIT BREAKERS

END PROJECT: OBSTACLE COURSE... clock circuit emits a pulse every second - sticky pistons. trap doors/floors, timed doors - actioned within a time. combination locks

SIMPLE EXPLANATION

We use Minecraft to teach ELECTRONICS.
