3D game design

It is very interesting. You learn how to make blueprints and use different things to make your game better like teleporting to new levels and landscaping to make the map look good.

The week was great!

The week was great! Even though it was quite tiring the first two days I got used to it and it no longer felt tiring. I've learnt how to make my own 3d game and it was very interesting. It was also great fun when we played cards in the breaks. :)

Learnt 3D design

the camp was fun and I have learned a lot and I would recommend you to try FunTech, as it has been very good.

Toby had a great time at the 3D games Design week, he enjoyed it a lot and had quite a decent game by the end of the week that he was reasonably pleased with – important to me, to know that he found some friends to play with in the breaks which was really key to making it much more interesting and stimulating.
We find coming to Barbican super convenient and the venue was great (maybe playground a bit small, but I didn’t actually see it?).
I did think maybe the more round table room layout you used to have at City Girls school was a bit better than the classroom lecture set up of the room, I am not sure Toby cared that much but I think he maybe got to know less people this time (?), he commented to me that all the helper/teachers were so very kind and lovely – this has always been the case and it really makes Funtech so good, so overall we absolutely love FunTech thank you.
I noticed only that we didn’t get a t shirt this time at the end. I wonder if you do ice breaker stuff at the start of the week with the kids in the break, maybe some outdoor games or learning each others names or something could make the group bond a bit more easily, Toby is pretty shy and it would possibly help him – he always gets to know the people sitting right next to him the best otherwise.
For Toby, he really is devoted to Minecraft and Redstone still, even though he is 13 – he would definitely come along if you ran a more grown up Minecraft course because he is now too old and has done them all, it looks like his options are to do something more like a coding course eg. Python as a 13 year old.
Many thanks and long may Funtech continue, we have been coming every year and went to everything we could think of so far, hopefully we can find a good course at Barbican again next summer!

My daughter Bethan had a great experience at the above course. The instructor (Jamie I think it was) was very patient and had a good balance between discipline and fun. The only feedback I could see was that the waiting /lunch room felt a bit stuffy during that particular week. The lady who's in charge of the registration was top notch ensuring the children's safety. Another feedback towards the end was that the laptop or connection might have been better in that it took my daughter a look time to download her game to the USB sticker and it wasn't properly saved and so she couldn't open it again afterwards.

3Dgame design

Thomas really enjoyed this and learnt a lot. He’s continuing to practise at home over the holidays.
He did find the first day very slow, so maybe the pace needs to move faster or be more practical to improve it.

This was my son’s first Funtech course and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He learned a lot about game design and he’s now enrolled on another programming course. Definitely worth it !

Our 10 year old returned today from the 3D game design residency at Tonbridge School. His experience has been extraordinary. We have never seen him so enthused about the way in which computing can be used. The teachers have managed to combine his innate love of narrative with the complexities of Unreal Engine. He made a game - a real computer game! Remarkable. We were nervous about him going away and not knowing anyone there, but he has forged some great friendships in just a few days. The opportunity to do scuba diving in the evening and play dodge ball were also highlights. All in all, we haven't heard a negative word. And of course, he wants to go back next summer. Thanks so much to everyone at funtech, I am really grateful our child was able to have this experience and would book it again in a heartbeat.

The Funtech 3D Game Design course is a great experience, Very challenging and interseting.

Fun tech was probably the best camp i have been to. The staff are friendly and helpful, they make learning fun, interesting and i met a lot of really nice people. Overall i would definitely come here again

This week was real fun. Even though the classes were [at first] a little boring, these last days just have been amazing. Our teachers were really cool and nice, and they explained the stuff so we could understand it easily.
In the residence I had really cool roommates, but it was sad that my friend Sofia had COVID so she couldn't come. Anyways, it was amazing with them. It was nice, too, that the last night like EVERYONE was on sugar rush so we were running through the residence like we were crazy. why funtech is so good

funtech is good because it give us the chance to learn and to have fun so keep it up .
last year i did a mcreator course and this was the best one i've so i hope i'm allowed to do it again!

So much fun

Every session has been the highlight of my day logging on and learning new skills that I will continue to use. All interactions on the course have been very fun, and I will almost definatly do another coures next summer.

Informative and fun course

I did 3D Game design and it was honestly really fun to learn. The Unreal Engine is a great thing, and I'd love for a 2nd part on this. Good Course, good tutor, good engine, pretty much everything was good.

Very enjoyable course

I feel that I learnt a lot in this course. I also feel that the tutors where very nice and very helpful. I would defiantly recommend this to a friend!

Amazing course

Amazing course with amazing teachers. I can now comfortably do semi-complex things with Unreal Engine.

My son really enjoyed his week of 3D game design. It went so quickly and he really looked forward to each day. He learnt a lot and ended the week with a brilliant game.

Virtual 3D gaming

My son loved this course, I was worried he might be a bit fed up at the end of the two weeks but he said it went by really quickly and he was completely engaged with every lesson.

We will be back for another course next holidays!

Hey FunTech! This has been an amazing week from being the only girl in my class to having loads of friends in the span of 5 days. The staff/instructors/teachers have been amazing, they are very kind and helpful, giving you advice whenever you need it. 3D Game Design has been an amazing course with learning the technical and 'non-technical' parts of it with making our own blueprints with Boolean and Float variables and making teleporters to making simple-yet-effective buildings and houses! And outside of all this every day we had a great time playing football, kickball and rounders. The outdoor space and freedom is great to have. I want to thank Lewis and Isaac for taking the time to entertain us!
The Final Project has been a bit stressful and put pressure on people to create the best ideas and game but its just having fun, learning and enjoying the week. I have loved it and want to continue with this course next year and hopefully I can learn how to make A.I. characters as I couldn't do it this session.

I would also like to say to any girls who fancy tech to give this course a go; or even just do a week in FunTech, whether you're alone like me or with a bunch of other girls to just try it because its so amazing and exciting.

Thankyou, FunTech for letting me do this course! And thankyou Lewis and Charles for teaching us. It really was FUN Tech :)

My fun time at FunTech

My experience was incredible and the tutors were helping me with all of my laptop issues but my experience was ruined by one person, George.

i found the length a day a little long but i got a lot done and i had a good time i learnt a great amount i think that the teachers were great i had a good time but some times the teachers werent as knowlegable as i would hope i think overall good but not amazing as it says in the title

FunTech 3D Game Design Holyport 05/08/22 Review.

Out of every summer camp that I've been to, FunTech was the best. The instructors were helpful, the equipment was great and my 3D Game Design course was absolutely amazing. I would definitely come here again.

Alright, get ready for an essay.
I've done funtech 3 times, and out of all of those times, 3D game design was the most fun. It was engaging, fun, and I made some friends. I enjoyed alot learning how to make 3D games using unreal engine. I had an amazing time and I loved the pack lunches the most :)

Great experience, very supportive and kind tutors, I have learnt a lot and it was amazing, most of the students were very kind and supportive

The only bad experience were a few students who were very disruptive.

I liked this camp I would come back.

I enjoyed this camp a lot. I enjoyed this camp more than the others (Lego robotics, Minecraft redstone and Roblox game developer). The tutor was really nice and helpful.

At the start of the week, I did not find this course very enjoyable. I found the software overly glitchy and complicated and the video tutorials were hard to follow. In addition, it seemed like 3 groups had been merged as there were 19 people in our group and 3 tutors. However, on Day 3, our group was split in two and it was a lot better. Luckily, I was on the group with 2 tutors so all of my queries were answered quickly. Our tutors now paused and explained the tutorials as we went along which allowed me to learn more. My tutors were incredibly helpful and supportive. Overall, I have really enjoyed this week and have created a pretty good game
