Excellent virtual course

My 14year old son had a good basic grasp of Python, but really found himself accelerating on this game development course, and it has really further ignited his interest in programming. He found the instructor very helpful and enjoyed the whole 2 weeks.

A great camp which was throughly enjoyed

Will, the instructor, brought the group together and took them on a wonderful journey through building out all the minecraft modifications. A great two weeks for our children.

Very Engaging

My son really enjoyed the Roblox Game Coding virtual camp. It was well organised, full of great content and kept him engaged all week.

Ayaan had ‘the best time ever’ during this course. He developed a fantastic game with a leader board! Wow! He learned so much whilst having an insane amount of fun!

Yousef has learnt many new things on this course.
There was no assessment at the end to see what he's absorbed or notes taken to ensure that he doesn't forget them.
I know the teacher asked them to take notes but he didn't follow up to see that they did.

Thank you for the virtual Java course: our son was enthusiastic throughout the week, learned a lot and was eager to share his projects with us. Given that I required individual support sessions to pre-install the required software I was very grateful for your exceptional care and service. When our internet connectivity let us down one day during the course, your representative followed up with a call and offered an extra one-on-one time for our son to catch up on the missed learning the very next day, which I believe goes above and beyond a usual level of support. We were big fans of Funtech residential camps before the lockdown, but having tried the virtual camp now, I can hundred percent recommend it to any parent!

He doesn't usual enjoy a camp where he doesn't know anyone, however, being virtual meant he had a chance to get to know them all immediately and settled in quickly. He's been very excited to show us what he has done everyday, and even spending extra hours outside of the camp hours prepping for his own project. Hope you keep the virtual camp even after the pandemic, as we are not very close to the physical camp location, and it worked brilliantly.

I was really impressed that I got two calls to remind Ava to complete the feedback form at the end of the day, and to start early(!) the next day when she signed off accidentally early one day. The teacher Will was amazingly patient with the cheerfully chatty kids. And got the course done.

I'm happy that i can use this as stepping stone to getting my daughter coding, starting from a point of joy.

Course was fantastic. By the end of the week, my son could code confidently in Python. The virtual teaching worked very well and my son enjoyed the feedback and challenges given by his tutor.

Alexia is an 11 yr old non-native English speaker complete beginner with games and screens. Probably wrongly, we were obsessed about keeping her away from screens and did a great job. The consequence was that her gap with any other regular kid is very wide when it comes to tech. We came to the conclusion there is no escape from the tech world for the young generation and wanted to introduce her to the space. I had been following Funtech for a while since a leaflet landed in my box. Alexia was initially registered for a summer residential camp. We were very happy that Funtech was making a great effort to still trying to deliver the programs despite the cancellation due to the virus.
So the course started and Alexia really, really struggled. She couldn't cope with the content, the program and the pace. Funtech was extremely honest in providing very valuable feedback while coming up with an option so Alexia could continue to learn at her own pace. I would not get into details but everything was about Alexia gaining a positive learning experience and Funtech was very flexible and very generous. Cato, the teacher was excellent, very patient and always advancing in content despite minimal feedback from Alexia. Alexia loved the class and was always looking forward to the next session despite her struggles. Mamta was reaching to us daily to discuss the situation and to make sure things were going in the right direction. Adrian also was very helpful.
Now is up to Alexia to continue to learn and, we hope she does that and, comes back to funtech for a different course but for sure she has been given a great introduction to a complete new world. With sincere thanks to all in Funtech. Jose

I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand. I was very impressed with how much content was covered and how it was targeted at a level that 7 year olds can understand.
The first day was a bit painful due to most students not having the software set up correctly - so I suggest in future there should be a day of prep in advance of the course with a tech support expert.

Matt was excellent at tailoring the content to the level of the group and very good at giving 1-to-1 support - he was extremely helpful with more advanced concepts and taking it beyond the limitations of the software.

Only area for improvement would be to find a way to pass complex technical issues (with one student) on to a support person so that it doesn't hold up the rest of the class.
It would also be nice to do some sort of show-and-tell on the last day where each child could show the others what they have created.

overall though it was a great 2 weeks

It's good knowledge advanced technology camps which our boy was so much fun and enjoyed time.
He does every summer which tried other camps but he enjoyed the most doing it in Tech camp.

Our sons have done several camps with FunTech and we have always found the quality of teaching excellent. The teachers are knowledgeable and engaging. Our sons have done several camps with FunTech and we have always found the quality of teaching excellent. The teachers are knowledgeable and engaging. We tried another tech camp last summer but the quality of the teachers did not compare. I grew up in the Silicon Valley so we were keen to find a good programme that properly educates our children about technology and they learn from a young age not to fear it.

We had an incident this past camp where one of my sons was being bullied. We know this can happen at any school or any camp but FunTech dealt with it swiftly and appropriately. Their response was exemplary and we have complete confidence that our sons are in good hands. They love FunTech and are keen to go back soon.

Final report

Matteo enjoyed himself, although he enjoyed more lasts years Java 2 campus, as the previous year's tutor was exceptional.

Will we receive a final report as we did this year? I thought it was very useful.

Although this was a great introduction to Java in a nice location I thought £575 for what is essentially a kids camp was really expensive.
