Great course, well taught

It was a good course and the teachers was good. Some parts were conceptually hard for my 12 year old to get his head around but that didn’t take away from his enjoyment.

Python Coder

My 13 year old son, while slightly reluctant at first to do a course during the summer holidays, soon became engaged with it and said he learned a lot. He feels this has set him up well to start Year 9/GCSE computer science and also commented that the tutors were very nice.

My son just completed his second year of camps with FunTech and he absolutely loves it. The platform is great, I particularly like how the tutor not only can present the course but also help out on my son's screen at the same time, its almost magic. We've tried other providers but they don't come anywhere near the quality of a FunTech course. Our son learnt loads and was proudly showing off his creations at the end of the session, mobs, epic weapons, weird creatures... doesn't mean a lot to me, but the smile on his face does and his confidence not only on the computer but in a group environment have improved immensely. This year he will also join his older brother on the term time offering which is just as fantastic, wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I messaged FunTech on the day, received a call back in the evening and we scheduled a morning catch up for my son with his tutor. problem solved and confidence restored!

My 14 years old boy did the Python OOP virtual camp over two weeks, in the morning, and found it very interesting. He said he would recommend the course and he found that the tutor was explaining very well. It was our first camp and virtual camp with Funtech and we will come back for more. As a parent, I was impressed by their thorough follow up: one morning my son put a comment in his session feedback form about not having understood something and the next minute, I get a phone call from the office to offer a catch up lesson!!! They seriously want every pupil to really and fully understand their daily lesson. A very impressive and professional customer service.

Our son has really enjoyed the Java coding course. It has hugely boosted his confidence and motivated him to learn more. The support from the Funtech team has been outstanding. Incredibly responsive to questions, and really attentive to our son’s progress with the course. The prep session when he fell behind in one lesson was invaluable at keeping him engaged and happy.
We cannot thank the team enough for such a brilliantly run learning experience.
Would highly recommend this to anyone who’s child has an interest in gaming or IT.

My son really had a great experience, learning the fundamentals of Java coding, alongside a group of students from different countries. The course covered the topics well, and places him in a good position to move on to the next level with a solid foundation. I liked that the course was an intensive 2 week program for 3.5 hours a day as that allows the students to focus and get in the zone, and walk away with a good grasp of the basics.
Also, he found it a lot of fun, which is also very important.

Python Coder

My son went on the Python Coder day camp, which he loved. It is the only holiday course he has ever done which he said he would like to go back to. I was also delighted that he came home each day having done lots of running around in his break times. All in all a great success with lots of learning.

My daughter loves Minecraft and everything about it so when I saw this class on Mods for Minecraft I was immediately interested. The admin team has been great sorting out all questions and guiding me through the booking process. What's great is that you can use your childcare vouchers to pay for the classes. The teacher of the class was great and helped my daughter every time she needed it. She was the youngest in the class so she needed quite a bit of support but FunTech and the teacher were supportive and she managed to complete the class and be even more enthusiastic about Minecraft!

The only improvement would be a consent process to allow kids to stay in touch with the others they became friendly with, and develop a group closed game together, both during camp time and subsequently.

My son really enjoyed his Virtual Minecraft course. He learned lots of new skills, including elementary programming, and loved being able to design his own mods. This course kept him entertained whilst we were working from home, and he continued working on his own after the course too. He shared his new mods with us at lunch and in the evenings, and I had to learn a whole new set of Minecraft terminology. I can highly recommend it.

Very engaging program

Although 3.5 hrs daily and virtually, the kids were very focused and engaged, having truly learned in a hands on environment. Strongly recommended.

Alexandra has thoroughly enjoyed Minecraft Redstone. The course was engaging, well organised and well put together. The group size was just right and the tutor was very knowledgeable and competent. This was her first virtual camp having previously done physical camps, but the experience and quality were exactly the same. It is great to have the optionality of both virtual and physical camps and the options of 2 weeks or 1 week of virtual camps.

Outside the camp, the staff at Funtech are always very friendly and extremely helpful, with endless patience for silly IT questions! This is our fifth year of doing Funtech and we are already looking forward to next summer's courses!

The Python OOP course was a fantastic week for the kids. They came home excited about what they learnt each day and were enthusiastic about what they were going to learn next.

My son has really enjoyed his coding camp - he said ‘ it was great tech with fun attached’ He appreciated challenges and the learning but also enjoyed lots of play in between. Opportunities for extra stretch with great support were presented. Highly recommend!

Having done the python coding course last holiday, I was expecting slightly more coding to this course (I believe essentially there was none). I think I had hoped that this would have been a great way to engage the boys in coding, as it would be based on gaming. Fantastic course!

My son absolutely loved this course and the best thing about it was he learned some real engineering concepts, not just pure basic Minecraft. His tutor was excellent and engaging. This is the second course he has done with Funtech and it will not be the last. Thank you Funtech!

My son has just had a fantastic week learning to make Roblox Games. His teacher Mide was just brilliant and made the week fun and engaging. We were lucky to have a very small group which I think made it even better.
My only criticism is the disappointment that no certificate is given out at the end and neither was there a T-shirt at the end as was given and I believe promised as part of the marketing.

My daughter enjoyed the AI learning camp very much. The instructor has organised the teaching material very well and was answering the questions from the pupils at all time. The break interval was set up well and allow the child to concentrate throughout the half day course.

Recommend to allow option of full day course over 1 week for the Virtual camp instead of the half-day course spreading over the 2-week time. This will allow more flexibility on the family to plan holiday away time during the school off period.

Python OOP Review

My daughter enjoyed this, and I think its a valuable course prior to starting GCSE's. However, she did find that some time was wasted on covering ground for some pupils not having a firm knowledge of Python.

But overall, a good course, and highly recommended.
