It was a very good camp, my python skill was increased and strengthened by a lot, as for the ai course, it helped me visualise Neural Networks and in what ways to use them, it was a very nice and enjoyable experience

My 9 year-old-son was extremely excited at the prospect of a whole week with masses of screen time, and he was delighted with the activities taught on this course! The work was well-structured and very well explained, because the class sizes were small, as promised. I thought he would be very tired, but each day he came home fizzing with energy and wanting to tell me about his achievements that day. The team sensibly supported the children to take plenty of breaks out of doors throughout the day, so there was no problem with the screen time involved. He really wants to do one again!

My 11-year-old daughter thoroughly enjoyed this course. It was a well-balanced blend of skills teaching alongside enough free-building opportunities that she felt like she was playing more than being 'schooled'. Her speed of building improved significantly because of the new techniques she learned, enabling her to attempt more ambitious projects (e.g. the whole of Hogwarts). The team also did an excellent job of entertaining children during breaks outside, so there was no problem with eye strain or restlessness across the week. She's very keen to come back on a future camp!

My son thoroughly enjoyed his time at FunTech and on this course. The instructor was very helpful and small class sizes a big plus. I would recommend for anyone who would like to introduce their child to Python & general coding concepts.

OOP Python - A brilliant next step course

This was my son's third course with Funtech. Support for the set up ahead of the course was brilliant and everything ran smoothly. He had a fun week and managed to progress a project he has been working on with some new ideas from the instructor as well as completing the coursework. Thank you.

The best of both worlds

My son loves Funtech courses. It keeps me happy because I know he’s having a positive educational experience and for my son he enjoys making new friends, learning and building on the computers and running and climbing about at play time. It’s the perfect mix!

We had amassed a large amount Childcare Vouchers over the past few years, which we needed to off-load before our children got too old. We were looking for something that might be appropriate for our son, who is 11, loves gaming, and has been looking for a way to level-up from Scratch and Roblox for a while now - and this seemed to fit the bill. He was a bit dubious at first though - "this feels a bit like school" - he said when I dropped him off on the first day, and he had a point. When I picked him up at the end of the first day, he was very tired - it was a long day for him. He told me it was "good", but the last two hours were a bit boring. I started to get a bit worried about the rest of the week. When I picked him up at the end of the second day he was much happier and told me that he didn't get bored at the end of the day this time. On the third day, he was tired, but absolutely buzzing when I picked him up, and he was surprised at how fast the day had gone. By Thursday he was really into it, and was telling me all about the game he was making which had 5 different endings. At the end of Friday we had a show-and-tell, where the children were able to show their parents what they had made, and transfer their projects onto USB thumb-drives to take home with them.

Overall I think our son was very happy with the experience, and he has learnt a lot - I think I will have to try and get him to teach me some Unreal now. Thank you!

The course was really fun and I learnt so much. The only thing that would make it better was if we moved at a faster pace because we had to make sure everyone fully understood the topic before moving on which was understandable but a bit annoying so maybe if there were just more extension project...

Today (and the rest of the lessons this week were actually really good as I learned a lot of things i didn't know you could do in Unreal engine.

Had a couple technical difficulties but overall was an outstanding camp!!

A brilliant camp

I loved this camp, and I would strongly recommend it. You learn all kinds of skills while building a game as well. One drawback I experienced was multiple crashes because unreal engine is very hard on computers as it involves a lot of data. Try and make sure to have excess storage.

3D Game Design Review

This course was enjoyable as I learnt how to use multiple features in Unreal so that I was able to create my own game. I was taught in a clear way and I was helped if I needed it. The features that I learnt were useful and had numerous uses in creating a game.

The camp was great.

At first, I thought it would be very hard but over time, I learned that coding can be fun and there are many things that you can do with it. The teacher is very nice and it is easy to follow along with the whole class. It also helped my social skills as I got to learn from other students.

The last five days were very much enjoyable and I had a lot of fun coding with GUI. the only topic which I thought could have been tought better was the vectors section. My tutor overall, he did well at explaining how to create canvases and draw shapes on them. He did great and the course challenged me personally. We finished work quickly and most of the time had time to spare; my tutor was able to come up with excersises related to the topics learned that day to make up for the time. So well done Harry!

Funtech started slowly on the first day getting accustomed to the new environment and getting familiar wit the online concept but day 2 became better with Harry, our leader, being extremely interactive, randomly asking people questions and sharing his knowledge . Furthermore, he used to display and demonstrate each concept by himself in code , giving personal examples. Secondly, Harry was very helpful as seen by day 2 ,where he would visit each person's code and spotting any mistakes and then giving feedback about it. By day 3, there was more engaging content delivered, so it was the best day for me because we created many designs using pens and then drawing many shapes using python which is an interesting thing I learnt during this course. Also, the course itself had checkpoints and many multiple choice questions to ensure you understand, solidifying my understanding. By day 4, the course had become more and more captivating, learning innovative concepts such as vectors, and Harry our team leader greatly explained a difficult concept making it easier for us. Day 5 was a sad day , as it was the last day, but it was still nice as it consolidated the knowledge and did final projects. Overall, I would recommend this course as you develop further understanding of python and the tutors are great!

I really enjoyed my virtual camp. The content was detailed and engaging with fun extensions and projects that challenged you to think deeply and apply your knowledge. Although the course was online it did not stop the classroom environment or me and my class mates participation. Our tutor was really friendly and had a solution to all our python errors, he made sure we all had a good understanding of each unit before we moved on. Overall I loved it and would highly recommend it to any students interested in python.

Overall, this camp has been a great experience and I've had lots of fun. Harry's been a great tutor and has helped me and everyone else in the class massively with our coding. Towards the start of the week, the teaching was a bit more bumpy, when compared to how smooth it is now. This is most likely because we had just met each other, and he didn't know which areas we personally needed most work on. Now, at the end of the week, each day is a much better experience because he knows how to most efficiently get the group to work, meanwhile making sure the lessons are engaging and enjoyable. Well done Harold! :)

I have massively enjoyed this virtual camp and I have learnt lots about OOP and have had lots of fun, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is interested in python and coding in general. I would also like to mention that my tutor for this course (Harry) did a brilliant job and thanks to him I understood everything that we did and all of the tasks by the end of the camp so a big thanks to him as well.
